THE GAP AND WHAT YOU CAN DO
The District is doing everything it can within its own authority to fund these projects responsibly. But closing the gap requires more than grants and loans. It requires community voices. Elected officials at the state and federal level need to hear directly from the people these projects protect, and that’s where you come in.
WRITE A LETTER TO YOUR ELECTED OFFICIALS
A personal letter from a constituent is one of the most effective tools in the democratic process. Elected officials hear from lobbyists and advocacy groups every day. A letter from someone who lives, works, farms, or raises a family in Ventura County carries real weight.
Here’s what to include:
WHO TO WRITE
Your key contacts for federal funding advocacy are:
STAY CONNECTED AND SHARE THE WORD
Attend a Public Meeting
Show up and speak up. Public comment at Board meetings, city council meetings, and county supervisor meetings puts these issues on the record and signals to elected officials that the community is paying attention. United Water’s Board of Directors meets regularly and welcomes public input.
Stay Connected and Share the Word
Follow our project updates and share them with your neighbors, your farm bureau, your business association, and your community organizations. The more people who understand what’s at stake, the stronger our collective voice becomes.
Follow us on social media for real-time project updates.
Sign up for our e-newsletter for deeper project and funding news.
Attend our Quarterly Tours and Annual Water Sustainability Summit to hear directly from District staff, engineers, and regulatory partners about project progress and more information about United Water.
